Though its programs had become a model for cities nationwide, CSP was unable to answer the basic question: "What long-term impact do we really have on those we help?" To answer this and related questions, CSP received grants to conduct landmark research on the outcome of its programs; marketed the impressive results of that research; and saw immediate gains in major donor support. CSP's marketing program is a blueprint for other nonprofit organizations wishing to use free research to tell the story of their success.
